Style, living in the countryside and working for yourself

Many weeks ago I found myself on a train heading to Buckinghamshire. I was about to meet Christine Livingstone, a business coach and a woman whose blog – A Different Kind of Work – I’ve been following for a few months now. What I didn’t know until a few weeks before my train journey, was…

Antonina, I’m only JUST reading your blog post today. I just want to say thanks SO much for these fantastic images. You have an enormous talent and I feel honored to have been photographed by you in this way.

And, it was a delight spending time with you. Part of your gift is that after a while I forgot you were actually taking photographs of me. We were having such a lovely social afternoon together!

Hi Antonia,

I do follow you on Twitter but somehow managed to miss the GREAT NEWS! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

You are right, I don’t think anyone is ever prepared for a baby – I wasn’t either. But one piece of advice, if I may: don’t go mad trying to learn everything about it in advance. Many of my friends bought book after book on pregnancy and motherhood and they were disappointed not to find the answers to their problems.

I only bought two books: What to expect when you are expecting? and What to expert in the first year? And they both served me absolutely fine, I actually recommend them. Everything else I learnt from talking to other mums (mostly my NCT group, which I also recommend – well, not mine obviously but whatever your local NCT group is) and sharing tips and experiences with them. It was really helpful as I realised I wasn’t alone when there was some kind of trouble with the baby (feeds, sleep patterns or whatever).

So my biggest recommendation would be meeting other future mums and also new mums once your baby is born. I found socialising really very helpful – I would have gone mad otherwise!

Best of luck with the pregnancy & I look forward to your tweets on bump’s growth, etc.

Somehow I missed the news, too..
Congratulations!!! :D :D :D

Congratulations!! I saw your post on Inspire Me Baby. I would love to do some all day sessions with my clients!
You may be surprised at yourself. You’ll have a lot more energy when the sick phase passes. I worked a full time job {some up and down stuff}, did shoots & photographed a wedding {had a backup photog & gave them an out early on} up to a week before my twins were born.

Ronnie - August 15, 2010 - 9:55 am

Sneak peek from a countryside family photography session

Just wanted to quickly share what I’m working with at the moment – full blog post to come later. This is not a perfect photograph, but it’s just so full of life and interaction, and the true personalities of these three, I just had to share it. I think I’m really becoming a “documentary family…
